Nelson und Autokauf

01.-03.12.2013

(I promised to try to write a bit in English. Here is the first try.)

Nelson ist not a very spectactular place, but has mostly good weather. And a walk to the centre of the earthmiddle earth… New Zealand.

The YHA hostel I stayed at was more like hotel and quite empty. Fortunately, I had a very nice roommate: Jordan from Frisco, Colorado, USA. And although we only met on two evenings he invited me to stay at his house in Frisco once I get there. I gratefully accepted the offer and will stay there for some days in April to go skiing. If everything works out. The other important thing in Nelson was the purchase of my car. I finally did it and bought a Mitsubishi Magna, built in 1994, 220,000km, for $2,280 (New Zealand dollars). Still too expensive, but much more reasonable than in Auckland. And a quite sympathetic car salesman. Pics later.

Oh, and I almost forgot to tell one of my favourite experiences so far. I just passed by a theatre where lots of people were having a really good time, shouting and dancing. So I asked what the reason for that was and they told me to come in and find out. And yes, of course I did. On the way through the theatre someone said they were sharing the love and thus I got even more interested. On the stage was a group of around 10 young people and as soon as the doors were closed they started singing pop songs. These mostly dealt with praising the Lord and while they were singing, the whole crowd was dancing, clapping hands and singing along to songs like „You are limitless“, the title also being the main part of the lyrics. A very interesting experience, but once they stopped singing and preaching commenced, I sneaked out of the theatre. You never know. I still liked the idea of getting young people interested in religion in this way, although I’m not sure what kind of religion it was.
